william. (2019)

"I can’t come back, but if you could see the view of Earth from up here,

you wouldn’t want to either.”

Written & Directed by Matthew W.F. Senior, 'william.' is a non-fictional eulogy film capturing the essence of his grandfather's life. This project sees William Henry Senior looking back at his life, and understanding how the world has changed around him.

Originally based on Senior's poem 'Home of Cold Rock', this project evolved into becoming a "living photograph" so that William can be immortalised forever in the world of film. This is a very personal film, depicting William Senior as accurately as possible - from mannerisms, music choices and dialogue, to events depicted, hobbies, photographs and memories. All photographs and flashback clips are authentic.

In 2019, this film was updated with an extended + remastered version. Senior originally made this film in 2017 as a result of having constant nightmares about his grandfathers passing, and decided to produce an art piece in which 'william' could be remembered forever; the film was an emotional process inspired by dreams. Following the films release, these nightmares stopped for around three months. When they came back, Senior shot additional footage and tweaked the editing throughout the film, re-releasing two years later in March 2019, when he felt it was absolutely perfect to him. The nightmares have since stopped.

From executive producer Daniel Lyle (The Boy Who Commits a Murder), this picture is free to view on VIMEO. It also has a physical BLU-RAY release.

"Perfect as a eulogy. Bill Senior creates an engaging presence within the film. Visuals are nicely composed - the visuals connect perfectly with Senior’s poetry – achieving a heavenly atmosphere, full of idyllic and leisurely touches. The film is an admirable poetic experiment."

RETROSPECTION (2020)

our world is such a beautiful place - and when things begin to falter and melt and crack and bend, through uncertain moments, nature reclaims that beauty - every single time.

based on the poem “broken pylons”, written by myself, RETROSPECTION  is not only a portrait exhibiting a stark contrast between now and then; between words and pictures - above all else, this is a thankyou to the individuals who took their time to shape my story.
